From the Finger Lakes to Saratoga Springs, NY

The Empire State Bed and Breakfast Association (ESBBA) Annual Meeting held in Albany this past Wednesday was the reason for our trip.  We decided to spend a night not too far away from Albany,   in Saratoga Springs, a place we called home many  years ago.  Saratoga is a place we are drawn back to, again and again. It is a beautiful, vibrant little city with loads of downtown shopping, delightful restaurants, and beautiful, well kept,  historic mansions. We stayed the night at the beautiful Springwater Bed and Breakfast. The Springwater is newly built and combines the style and charm of old Saratoga with the comforts of a newer bed and breakfast. This B&B is absolutely a “class act” as it is beautifully built and appointed, and as sparkling clean as one always wants to find a Bed and Breakfast. The hosts,  Leslie and her mom, Lynn were delightful to chat with. .  Our Room, the Union Spring Room, was large and beautifully appointed  – as was the lovely bath with spa tub. We chose the Brook Tavern for a delightful dinner, a restaurant that is part of the Springwater property, and operated by owners of the the famed Wishing Well in Saratoga..We were  served a wonderful breakfast in the morning and met a delightful couple from Australia.  Even though our getaway was a short trip, and we returned to our own Sunrise Landing Bed and Breakfast on Seneca Lake the next day – it was a pleasure to visit another lovely B&B. The Springwater  is one that we will recommend to others as it clear that the owners have standards very similar to our own.
