Happy New Year

The Innkeepers at Sunrise Landing enjoyed a beautiful Christmas with a soft Christmas snowfall the following day and an unexpected warming trend for New Years, making it seem more like Easter. We are closed for our annual refurbishing until February, opening weekends for February and March (we are happy to extend the weekend by special request). We will be fully open in April. As usual, check out our great packages and specials available until May 1st. Our phones are open from 9 AM until 10 PM to take your reservations and, as always, booking on-line is very easy. Smith Opera House and Seneca Lake Pure Waters to present Gasland

On Wednesday, December 8, at 7 PM, Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (SLPWA) and the Smith Opera House in Geneva will present the film, “Gasland”, by Josh Fox. The presentation of Gasland will be followed by a question and answer session with panelists from the following area organizations: SLPWA, Committee to Preserve the Fingerlakes, the Finger Lakes Institute, and the Keuka Lake Association. The showing is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to defray costs. Gasland is a documentary film, written and directed by Josh Fox. Holiday Greetings

During the past year, hundreds of guests have been welcomed at Sunrise Landing. While we are fortunate to have many returning guests, the majority were complete strangers to us, when they arrived. It is fair to say – no one is a stranger for long. It has been a privilege to meet so many wonderful people from across the United States, and around the world and to have them as our guests at Sunrise Landing. We consider ourselves very blessed. Seneca Lake Wine Trail – 2010 Deck the Halls Sold Out

The last official Seneca Lake Wine Trail Event of the year, Deck the Halls, is sold out for this year. However, if you waited too long to get your tickets, and want to begin thinking about next year, the dates for 2011 have been announced: November 18-20, and December 2-4. Each year, the Seneca Lake Wine Trail hosts two Deck the Halls Weekends - one in November and one in December, usually the weekend before Thanksgiving and the weekend after Thanksgiving Weekend. Eggless “Schiesser” (Caesar) Salad

The Empire State Bed and Breakfast Association (ESBBA) EXPO FOR EXCELLENCE was held in Corning at the Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG), October 8 and 9, 2010. Clean the World, the non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives at home and abroad by providing recycled soap to those who need it, was there. The Empire State Bed and Breakfast Association (ESBBA), recognized as New York State's leading hospitality trade organization, will have its EXPO for Excellence in Corning, NY at The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG)November 7, 8, and 9. While in Corning yesterday for a planning meeting, I rediscovered what a wonderful city Corning is. As I recall, CMoG could keep one busy for at least a day, but while in Corning - one must not miss the Rockwell Museum (Native American and Western Art). Suzanne – Fine Regional Cuisine – Fine Dining at its best!

No summer is complete without a trip around the lake to Suzanne's. Usually, we make it our business to get over there a few times a season but this was the first, this year. And, even though the parking lot was overflowing last Wednesday night, when we arrived, they made us feel like we were the only ones there. We began our exquisite meal out on the porch and even with the overcast sky blocking the sunset, the clouds with their pinkish tones and hues hanging over the hills made the view lovely. Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (SLPWA)

What could be more important to those of us who love Seneca Lake than to keep it pure? The organization that has "keeping Seneca Lake pure", as its primary goal, is SLPWA. Revitalized in 2008, it presently has a dynamic board of directors and is moving forward with projects to keep the lake beautiful and preserve and protect the watershed.
