Last Wednesday, Fox Run Winery welcomed various members of the hospitality industry to sample their new wine tasting experience.  Bob and I have been waiting for the wineries to combine everything into one – and offer a complete experience – similar to what we experienced in Napa last year. Third Annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival – July 26, 2014

I just found out about an event coming up that sounds like it will be both fun and delicious.   It’s the Third Annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival. You will be able to sample many of the cheeses of the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail  at Sunset View Creamery just outside of Watkins Glen on July 26 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Seneca Lake Innkeepers Find Gem in Savannah Georgia

As you can imagine, the innkeepers at a busy bed and breakfast find little time for traveling. While Bob and I,  the  innkeepers at Sunrise Landing Bed and Breakfast , are no exception, we do try to make the most of our time in the winter when we are closed. This year in March, after attending the Mid Atlantic Innkeeper's  conference  in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, we drove south to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The Empire State Bed and Breakfast Association (ESBBA) Annual Meeting held in Albany this past Wednesday was the reason for our trip.  We decided to spend a night not too far away from Albany,   in Saratoga Springs, a place we called home many  years ago.  Saratoga is a place we are drawn back to, again and again. It is a beautiful, vibrant little city with loads of downtown shopping, delightful restaurants, and beautiful, well kept,  historic mansions. Sunrise Landing is now beautifully blanketed with about 18 inches of fluffy white snow and we are enjoying a winter wonderland scene in all directions. The birds at the feeder, and the ducks on the lake excitedly frolic as if  they too know that this much snow is a rare happening.  Our family holiday celebration was yesterday and two of our grandsons enjoyed a ride down Apple Road on Bob's old, red bobsled, which was restored to "almost new" ...

Making Progress

A lot was accomplished this weekend. The kitchen cabinets are almost completely installed. The woodwork is finished and installation begins Tuesday morning.

Riesling Wine is King in the Finger Lakes

Riesling is is a very popular wine in the United States. It is  food-friendly and affordable and is a diverse wine in that it can be bone dry or a sweet  dessert variety. Our Seneca Lake Bed and Breakfast is Expanding

Finally, Sunrise Landing Bed and Breakfast on Seneca Lake is on its way to having another beautiful suite. The wall board is completed, the ceilings are painted and we are picking out wall colors. Just like our Sunflower apartment suite, the new one will have a full kitchen, private entrance, and a beautiful view of the lake. It will also boast a luxurious bathroom with a corner garden tub and a separate tile and glass shower. If we could just decide on a name, the color selections might be easier.
